Mentoring
I would love to mentor others for free.
Mentoring others is like planting a tree and watching it grow.
It is like raising a kid and watching the kid grow to achieve their dreams.
It is also like baking a cake and watching it rise and tucking in finally when it’s ready to eat.
Another analogy is that of painting on a canvas and observing the joy that the painting brings to others.
We can also liken it to moulding a piece of clay into a pot and noting the various uses of the pot to society.
Mentoring others gives you an opportunity to make an impact in another person’s life.
You become like an indelible ink marked on their memory.
They therefore hold you dear in their heart.
They know that you spent time to mentor them because you cared about them and wanted them to achieve their full potential.
Hence, you are forever in their thoughts.
What can bring greater joy than this?
Maya Angelou, the American memoirist, poet and civil rights activist emphasised the importance of showing care to others. She stated, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
The importance of feelings is also underscored by Antoine de Saint-Exupery in “The Little Prince” when he states that “The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart”.
