Floral Art Lessons

I have always loved blues and greens. I think that those colours have a calming effect on a person.

The following painting is in blues and greens. I decided to draw some flowers and paint them in blues and greens. First of all, I covered the edges of the canvas with painter’s tape. This was to ensure that I would have white edges when the painting was over and I had removed the tape.

I then painted the whole canvas with a very light shade of blue in order to give it a background colour. I then drew the flowers on the canvas using a stencil which had cut out portions of flowers.

I left some space in the middle of the canvas in the shape of a rectangle. I wanted to use a stencil and gold paint to spray some flowers in there, eventually.

I started to paint the different colours of the flowers using different shades of blues and greens.

I then finished painting all the flowers. I was yet to paint the square in the middle of the canvas.

I then painted the middle of the canvas with black paint. This was to ensure that there would be a contrast when I eventually sprayed gold paint on it.

I then placed a stencil which had flowery designs on the black rectangle and sprayed gold paint on it. Here is a picture of the stencil.

I held it in place on the black rectangle and sprayed gold paint on it. I also outlined the edges of the flowers with black, to make the flowers stand out.

I also removed the painter’s tape from the edges of the canvas in order to get a white border. We have our painting!
