Dreams of my Dad
by Charlie Benji Paintsil

*DREAMS OF MY DAD*
1.
The Dreams We Planned, I Must Now Chase Alone”
Dad, we had a thousand dreams beneath the sun,
A journey we would take, a race we’d run.
We spoke of days when all our plans would shine,
When your proud eyes would meet the victory of mine.
2.
We planned to rise, to conquer every fear,
To share our joy and celebrate each year.
But death came knocking, tore our world apart,
And left your dreams still beating in my heart.
Now I must walk the road we planned to share,
With empty arms and memories everywhere.
3.
The hands I hoped would guide me through the rain,
Are gone, yet I must rise above the pain.
I’ll chase the dreams we painted in the sky,
Though tears may fall, I’ll spread my wings and fly.
And when I win, though you’re beyond my view,
Dad, every dream I live will honour you.

A deeply moving tribute to a father’s love and the dreams that live on through his child. The pain of losing a father is beautifully expressed, yet the poem carries a powerful message of courage, hope and perseverance. Though he may no longer walk beside you, his love and guidance remain alive in every step you take. May every dream you fulfil become a loving tribute to him. Beautifully written, Charlie. 🙏
